Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to frequently asked questions about BASICS, our training methodology, and the app.
General & Philosophy
Who is BASICS for?
BASICS supports athletes of all levels – from youth and recreational athletes to competitive performers. Whether you need sport-specific strength training or structured, evidence-based strength development.
Why doesn't BASICS offer thousands of exercises?
Because more is not automatically better. The exercises generating the most clicks on social media are rarely the most effective. BASICS focuses on a reductionist approach: high-yield compound lifts combined with optimal consistency and variation.
Training & Progression
How is my personalised training plan created?
BASICS starts by assessing your goals, training experience, and schedule. From this, the app calculates an individual plan with specific target sets, reps, and calculated working weights.
How does BASICS calculate my weights and progressions?
BASICS analyses your completed workout logs and post-session exertion feedback. This dynamically adjusts target loads from session to session, preventing plateaus and ensuring steady gains.
Can I swap an exercise during a workout?
Yes. If gym equipment is occupied or you need an alternative, you can swap any exercise during your active session for a functionally equivalent variation.
Sports & Coaches
Can I train specifically for my sport?
Yes. In addition to general strength training, we offer discipline-specific profiles – such as Judo and combat sports. We continually expand our sports profiles in collaboration with top national federations and experts.
Does BASICS support coaches and sports clubs?
Yes. BASICS includes tools for coaches: create individual or team workout plans, assign them to athletes, and track their performance data and progress centrally.
